Wilson and Coleman Battle Heads-Up for Glory in Las Vegas

The latest PokerGO Cup event saw two PokerStake players battle it out for victory in Las Vegas. The PokerGO Studio at ARIA on the Las Vegas Strip saw 104 entries fill out a field that fought for a $520,000 prize pool, and with just 15 players getting paid, there were some very big names who went close but ultimately missed out on the really big prizes.
Chino Rheem Cashes Again
Ultimately, the PokerGO Cup is a long and gruelling tournament series where cashes only add up to the leaderboard win over time. With a total of 10 events, winning it is tough and competing against the very best poker players in the world and constantly evolving challenge. Some of the players who made the money in Event #4 were evidence to that fact by their reputations alone.
Sneaking into the money was Qinghai Pan, who took home a min-cash of $10,400 in 15th place. He was followed from the felt by Jesse Lonis, the American cashing for the same amount in 14th place. Results for Jeremy Becker (13th for $13,000) and Michael Brinkenhoff (12th for $13,000) before a PokerStake favorite made the money once again.
Chino Rheem’s 11th-place finish was worth another $15,600, as the Las Vegas resident once again made profit in this year’s PokerGO Cup. Soon, however, the race was on the make the final table of seven players, and after John Hennigan, a.k.a. ‘Johnny World’ busted in ninth place for $15,600, Sean Winter’s elimination in 8th place for $20,800 brought about the final table.

Coleman in Charge
Of the final seven, it was David Coleman who led the field. The PokerStake player piled up 47 big blinds, with Brock Wilson not only his fellow PokerStake stablemate but his nearest rival on 35 big blinds. The shortest stack at the final table felt was the meagre mound of six big blinds in front of WSOP bracelet winner Shannon Shorr, but he wasn’t the first player to be eliminated.
That dubious honor applied to Connor Rash, who busted in seventh place for $20,800. All-in with pocket tens, Rash was unable to double-up through the pocket aces of David Coleman, as the six-high board sent unfortunate at-risk player to the rail. Shorr only enjoyed a stay of execution, busting next for $26,000, his ace-ten dominated by the ace-queen of Brock Wilson, as neither player hit and the queen belonging to Wilson played.
Jeremy Dan cashed for $33,800 in fifth place, as Wilson and Coleman continued to dovetail the bust-outs between them as they continued on a collision course. Dan was all-in when short with ace-three but was called by Coleman with pocket nines. No ace or running cards came to Dan’s rescue and he missed out on the final four.

Chop Change for PokerStake Duo
Coleman was in charge at this stage and his domination of the last day continued with the elimination of Myles Mullaly in fourth for a result worth $46,800. All-in with
, Mullaly was behind Coleman’s
but a flop of

] gave the at-risk player bottom pair. A
on the turn was a disastrous card, however, and no help came on the river, meaning Mullaly missed out on the podium places.
It was Drake Kemper who busted in third place for $59,800. Committing his stack with ace-three, he was unable to survive against the dominating ace-eight belonging to Coleman.
“It’s gonna be hard to win this one,” Kemper had said before the flop and so it proved, as an eight on the flop and turn saw him drawing dead to the river. With Coleman (8.8m) well ahead of Wilson (4.2m) in chip terms, the two men struck a deal leaving $15,000 to play for and it already seemed a wise decision on Coleman’s part when Wilson paired up an ace and leapt into the lead.
Soon, it was all over. All-in with
on a flop of

, David Coleman needed to hit against the
of Brock Wilson. That didn’t happen, with the
on the turn followed by a
on the river to end the event in Wilson favor.
“Give that man his trophy!” quipped Coleman as his fellow PokerStake representative wrapped up another famous win. While Coleman had to be satisfied with $105,680 as runner-up, it was Wilson who took home the $112,720 top prize.
