Tournament Crushers Melanie Pittard and Jeremy Ausmus Strike it Rich

Two of PokerStake’s busiest players proved that consistency is the key to success this week as they won big at the felt at Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas. Melanie Pittard and Jeremy Ausmus have very different pasts in poker but both are showing that anyone can be successful in the game we all love, after big scores in two very different events.

Melanie Pittard is On the Rise

Tournament specialist Melanie Pittard’s continued good form is impressing fans and fellow players alike. At the Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe WSOP Circuit Main Event, Melanie played the $1,700-entry event as Evan Sandberg went on to successfully defend his title, winning the $125,269 top prize and his second WSOP Circuit ring.

Melanie ran very deep, however, and turned her buy-in into a fourth place result worth $42,280. A brilliant one and one that delighted not only Melanie and her close friends and family but her poker coach, Faraz Jaka. Faraz, who has been one of the subjects of the red-hot new poker documentary No Limit, was seen celebrating Melanie’s result on X after her superb run to the final table.

“Recipe for success: Hike the Lake Tahoe mountains, final table the WSOP Circuit Main Event at Caesars Republic! Congrats to Melanie Pittard for her deep run and fourth place for $42,280! She’s been having a great year in poker and [is] one to watch!”

The cash is one of four in the past five weeks, with Melanie winning $3,273 in The Wynn Fall Classic in Las Vegas earlier this month, and two cashes worth over $3,400 in the Venetian DeepStack Extravaganza in SinCity at the end of September. All in all, her last few events have yielded results worth well in excess of $50,000, tipping Melanie past the $400,000 mark in her poker career.

You simply have to follow Melanie’s success up with some of your own by backing her in her next events on PokerStake via her official staking page on the site. These include the lucrative WPT World Championships in December.

Jeremy Ausmus Hits Royal Flush in Las Vegas

The six-time WSOP bracelet winner Jeremy Ausmus has seen and done virtually everything in poker but this week hit a one in 2.7 billion hand, winning with a royal flush against quad aces in Las Vegas. The hand took place at Resorts World on Day 1b of the North American Poker Tour (NAPT) Main Event which cost $5,300 to play.

In the hand, it was initially Jeremy’s opponent who was the aggressor, as Harlan Karnofsky raised it up with pocket aces and Jeremy called with jack-ten of diamonds. The flop was a spectacular one, landed K-Q-8 in diamonds, flopping our man the flush. He had to play the pot steadily, though, and check-called his fellow American’s bet.

On the turn, the ace of diamonds landed, giving Jeremy the unassailable royal flush that is the best five-card hand in poker. Once again, a bet was made by Karnofsky and Jeremy called. The river brought another ace, this time in spades. Jeremy bet, and quickly called Karnofsky’s all-in move. He turned over aces, but Jeremy’s jack-ten sent oohs and ahhs around the table as the popular PokerStake player raked in the pot and sent Karnofsky on his way.

With no bad beat jackpot in tournament play, all Karnofsky could do was walk away disconsolate. But Jeremy used the chips to reach 37th place of the 738 entries, cashing for $14,200. Here’s how the table reacted to his incredible royal flush.
