How Much Action is Daniel Negreanu Selling to WSOP Paradise?

Back in the summer, Daniel Negreanu sold 25% of his World Series of Poker (WSOP) action in bracelet events. That amounted to $500,000 of his $2,000,000 in buy-ins and turning a handy profit of almost 10%, ‘DNegs’ rewarded everyone who invested in him, as he banked $2.18 million in returns.
With the WSOP Paradise festival around the corner, Canada’s most successful ever player and the proud owner of seven WSOP bracelets is selling his action again, with 20% of his $1.5m in buy-ins going on sale. How much will DNegs win in The Bahamas and could some of the profits be in the $25,000-entry Super Main Event?
It’s time to take a look.
How Much Action is Daniel Negreanu Selling?
With $2m in buy-ins for the summer series of 100 WSOP bracelet events, you could expect the package to Paradise to be considerably lower given there are only 15 WSOP events on the schedule. However, Kid Poker is putting 20% of $1.5m up for sale and with the action selling quickly, December 4th is the cut-off for the package. Last time he sold action, Daniel sold out in minutes… so you need to be ready.
Selling 20% of his action in the WSOP, Daniel is doing so at no additional markup. This is rare in poker, and even on PokerStake. Quite reasonably given some of the world’s best poker players like Kristen Foxen and David Coleman sell on the site, most action comes with an additional markup cost. If $100,000 of action goes on sale at 1.05, then the sold-out package would be worth $1,05,000 to the player.
For the eighth most successful tournament poker player of all-time to be putting up his action ‘at spot’ is amazing and you have a superb chance of making profit, especially given Daniel’s recent record at Atlantis Resort, where he has been travelling to in order to play big events for the best part of 20 years one way or another.
Here’s how Daniel got on in last year’s WSOP Super Main Event, having made the money, losing a key hand at the worst possible time:
Which Events Will Kid Poker Play?
There are a lot of suitable events for someone of Daniel’s buy-in level, and with a super-strong record in WSOP events, the upcoming Paradise festival could be the perfect chance to book a big win as an investor. Last year, Daniel cashed in three events in Paradise, coming fourth in the final event, the $3,500-entry Closer event which was won by Nick Schulman for his seventh WSOP bracelet and $145,000.
In the $10,000-entry PLO Event, Daniel made it to the final table too, eventually finishing in eighth place, as his fellow North American Mike Gorodinsky won the event for $393,250 and the fourth of his five WSOP bracelets, the most recent coming in the $10,000 Eight Game Mixed Championship.
Daniel also cashed in last year’s WSOP Paradise Main Event, which of course is part of his package this year too. The $25,000 Super Main Event is a classic event on the year’s poker schedule and while Kid Poker wasn’t able to win it like Chinese player Yinan Zhou did for $6 million, making the money in an event which saw 1,978 total entries at $25,000 each is still mighty impressive.
Could DNegs End Year on Top of PGT Championship Race?
Several WSOP Paradise events contribute PGT points into the season-ending PokerGO Tour leaderboard. Daniel will be keen to rack up a few more to give him the best chance of emulating his fellow PokerStake player Jeremy Ausmus, who won the $1m Freeroll Championship last season for a top prize of $500,000.
Daniel currently sits in eighth place on the leaderboard, which should be more than enough to qualify him into the 50-player battle for glory in January as part of the PGT top 40. Barring an incredible series of results for players in 9th through 41st position, Kid Poker is going to be a major player in that event, which traditionally kicks off the next year in early-mid January.
