Action is Back in Texas… Could a PokerStake Player Conquer the Lone Star State?
Action is Back in Texas… Could a PokerStake Player Conquer the Lone Star State?

The World Series of Poker’s Circuit events have never been bigger and with legends of the game racking up dozens of wins in the format, each new event series seems more prestigious than the last. This week’s news that the Lodge Card Club has been cleared of all charges is sure to give Texas a shot in the arm in poker terms, so the WSOPC Texas Card House series should be a cause for great excitement… and bumper prizes.

Some of PokerStake‘s finest will be hoping to fill their cowboy boots.

Who’ll Slay in The Lone Star State?

This month, the WSOP Circuit Texas Card House series is taking place in Austin, Texas. Held at the TCH Social venue, the historic series of events is the first to ever take place in The Lone Star State and runs up to May 4th, including 18 WSOP Circuit ring events and a Main Event that has a $1,000,000 guarantee and costs just $1,700 to play.

Two of PokerStake’s players are taking on the tournament series at the venue and as locations go, it’s extremely popular with players of all levels. With over 70 tables in use at any time, the Austin Texas Card House may not have played host to WSOP-C events before but has a thriving community of players.

Stars of the felt and screen populate the tables at TCH Social on a regular basis and this WSOPC series has featured one of the World Series of Poker’s very own. Jeff Platt recently joined the world’s biggest poker brand “in an expanded role, as both a host and a producer”, and is happiest playing at the felt himself (below). Whether he’ll be taking part in the Main Event is yet to be confirmed but there’s every chance if he’s not holding the mic he’ll be sitting behind chips.

Tarbet on Target

David Tarbet is one of the PokerStake players who’ll be taking to the felt in Texas this week and playing in the No Limit 2-7 Single Draw Event #12. He’s also taking on the PLO Event #14 but be quick – David is selling just 15% of his action at markup of 1.10 and that makes him great value.

David’s record in the recent past is very strong, with nine cashes in 2026 alone. Not many players won the first event they played this year, but David did, conquering the $400 WSOP Circuit event in Las Vegas on January 1st, taking home the $8,607 top prize and a terrific return on investment.

With over $419,000 in live tournament earnings already, the British-born Colombian resident Tarbet could be a real threat in the Texas Card House WSOP Circuit series and we recommend backing him in all mixed game events as he looks to take control of yet another series on the road after successful trips to Las Vegas and Prague already in this year.

WSOP Circuit ring
Could David Tarbet or Scott Fahrenbruch win a WSOP Circuit ring in the $1,700 Main Event?

Full Steam Ahead for Fahrenbruch

Michael ‘Scot’ Fahrenbruch is another PokerStake player aiming to win big in The Lone Star State this week. Playing the No Limit 2-7 Single Draw Event #12 event that costs $600 to play at no markup at all, Scot is also selling two bullets at a markup of 1.05 to the $1,700-entry Main Event. This represents an excellent chance to make money, with his record in live events this year alone being very impressive.

Cashing 10 times so far in 2026, Scot is a true local hero, with many of his results via The Hendon Mob coming at the venue. In the past eight weeks alone, Scot has won over $43,000 including two final table appearances in Dallas. His biggest result so far this year is the $34,170 he won at the Texas Card House in the ‘Trailblazer’ event. Costing $1,200 to play, Wayne Harmon won the tournament for $203,990 but Scot showed just how impressive he is in Main Events of this level.

Whoever you’re backing, don’t miss out on the action this April and May as the Texas Card House plays host to a WSOP Circuit event series for the first time. Check out all the events and players on offer via our official staking page for the series here!
