15 Bigs: French King of Tournaments Bruno Fitoussi Takes on Our Testing Teasers

Every poker player will, at one point or another, face a decision for their poker tournament life on their way to victory. Down to 15 bigs, that player will either push their chips over the line or pull them back. Our 15 Bigs are designed to put players to the test in exactly the same way. We’ve put together the ultimate list of 15 questions and this week’s PokerStake star in the firing line is a bona fide poker legend.

The French tournament poker legend Bruno Fitoussi is in his home country of France this week to play the EPT Paris stop, so we caught up with him to put our 15 Bigs to him while he negotiates the €5,300 EPT Main Event. Too tough for the French fighter or will Bruno play his ‘Bon Chance’ one time?

Let’s find out.

You’re on a long-haul flight and can only choose one TV Show or Movie to watch on repeat, which is your pick?

A musical. I think. I loved Bugsy Malone, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Phantom of the Paradise.

Rocky Horror
It’s just a fold to the left, and a re-raise to the ri-i-i-i-i-ight.

We had to look up that last one and now we’re scared of more than pocket aces – thanks, Bruno! If you were stranded on a desert island with one book for company, what would it be?

Only one? Tough choice. Belle du Seigneur by Albert Cohen.

We actually know that one, it’s known as Cohen’s true masterpiece, published originally in 1968 but set in 1930s Geneva. OK – what’s the song you could listen to on repeat forever?

Wild is the Wind performed by David Bowie.

What’s your favourite place to play poker and why?

Las Vegas during the World Series of Poker. I meet up with my poker and golf buddies and I can play mixed games that are my preferred form of poker.

If you were to be shot at dawn, what would be your last meal and drink?

Caviar and vodka.

Where’s your favourite non-poker holiday destination?

Ile de Ré in the Atlantic Ocean west of France. That’s how I see paradise.

Ile de Ré
The stunning Ile de Ré.

You can play poker every day for a year or play no poker for a whole 12 months – which do you choose?

Easy! I’d play no poker for even longer if it was mandatory.

Who is the person you don’t have around anymore that you miss the most?

Hmm… there are too many people I miss a lot already.

Which person would you most like to meet but never have?

David Bowie. Too late unfortunately.

David Bowie
The influential David Bowie – Bruno’s ideal hero to meet.

When’s the last time life put you on tilt?

Yesterday while I was trying to get a response from a state administrative service.

If you couldn’t play the WSOP Main Event next year, which family member would you put into the action in your place?

None! Seriously!

What’s your best poker skill?

Patience.

And your biggest leak?

Too much patience.

The incomparable Bruno Fitoussi.

If you could make one rule change to poker, what would it be?

Allowing rebuys in tournaments. No breakfast ball!

You have just ten seconds with the person of your dreams… who are they and what do you say?

I don’t dream about anyone in particular and, anyway, what could I say that would be interesting in ten seconds?

Bruno conquered our 15 Bigs just like he crushes at the felt. With plenty of events still to come in Paris, “Bon Chance”, Bruno!
